Apple is getting ready to put its new M4 chip into a new group of Mac computers. The only question was, when will it happen?
Last week, Apple surprised everyone by launching the iPad mini 7 with just a press release. Some people thought that Apple might do the same for the new MacBooks.
But Mark Gurman, a well-known Apple expert, said on X (formerly Twitter) that the new Macs are coming soon. He thinks Apple might launch them next week, maybe on October 30 or even the day before.
Mark Gurman first shared that Apple is having a “hands-on experience” on October 30 in Los Angeles. We don’t know if new Macs will be shown at this event, but if they are, Apple will likely tell everyone about the new devices before reporters and influencers get to see them.
Apple might make the announcement on Tuesday, October 29, or on Wednesday. They are inviting reporters and creators to different times during the day on October 30 in Los Angeles. It looks like they won’t have everyone together to watch a special video. So, the announcement will only be online with a video and press releases, just like I said before.
Gurman said that Apple is not planning to bring everyone to one place to watch a special video or speech. This means they will make the announcement online, like when they announced the iPad mini, using a press release and a video.
We expect to see different new devices during this announcement. These could include the M4 iMac, M4 MacBook Pro, a new M4 Mac mini, and some USB-C accessories. There might also be a new MacBook Air, but that isn’t certain yet.
There have been reports, including from Gurman, that stores have low stock on current products and there are no new shipments planned. This usually means that new products are coming soon.
Right now, only the current iPad Pro, which came out in May 2024, has the M4 chip. This might mean that Apple doesn’t think it needs to explain the chip too much for their laptops and desktop computers.
We will be watching Apple closely next week. So, be sure to check back with Tom’s Guide for updates on all the new Apple devices.
