Want a Job? Talk to Our AI Avatar

AI avatars are changing how companies talk to people who want jobs. Many companies are now using computers to help in hiring. A new report by Tidio, a company that makes software for customer help, says 85% of hiring managers think AI tools are useful and can handle some parts of hiring.

With AI taking on these tasks, people wonder if it can really tell if someone will do a good job. Recently, a post on Twitter (now called X) showed an AI doing a job interview. This shows how computers are now part of finding new workers.

Brent Lupton, who works at Zeligate, a company that makes AI helpers, said, “Some companies are excited about using AI. Others are careful and want to learn more first. By 2025, AI might be normal in the job world.”

Digital avatars, or AI people who look and act like real people, are getting popular. Companies like Zeligate, Sapia, Hour One, HeyGen, Paradox, and Synthesia make these avatars for different jobs, like helping with presentations, customer questions, and talking to job seekers.

Chipotle, a restaurant, worked with an AI company called Paradox to make a special helper named Ava Cado. This helper is a “virtual team member” that uses AI. Chipotle says Ava Cado can make hiring for restaurant jobs faster, cutting the time by 75%.

In late October, AI helpers became even more popular when Microsoft shared that people could make their own AI helpers using a tool called Copilot Studio. Microsoft said, “Think of AI helpers like new apps for an AI world. Each company might have many different helpers, some that answer questions and others that work on their own.”

But not everyone thinks AI should take over all hiring tasks. Zeligate’s Lupton says that “Human resources need humans,” and that AI should just help people do their jobs better.

While bosses are using AI to help hire people, many job seekers feel unsure if AI will treat them fairly. In 2023, a study by Pew Research found that 41% of people didn’t like AI checking job applications, and 71% didn’t want AI making the final choice on who gets hired.

LinkedIn, a popular website for finding jobs, is using AI more too. But job seekers are also using AI to improve their chances. HR experts call this an “AI battle” between people who hire and those looking for jobs.

Josh Bersin, who studies hiring trends, said, “As AI helps recruiters find and check people, job seekers are using AI to make their resumes look good.” One company even noticed that many resumes now look just like the job descriptions. Why? Because job seekers use AI too!

How long before we see AI recruiters talking to AI avatars for humans?
